Both UCI and Open Race riders completed a fast and very challenging stage, with the race being disputed until the very last metre, as the cyclists arrived in Tavira city centre overlooking the natural reserve of the salted Ria Formosa and the sea.
In the UCI Men category, Frank Beemer and Kevin Panhuyzen from Team Habitat oversprinted the yellow jerseys, Claes and Massaer. In the final GC, Belgians Frans Claes and Joris Massaer were the winners from this fifth edition of the three-day Algarve Bike Challenge.
In the UCI female category, Carpinteiro and Alonso couldn’t resist the attack from Lisa Mitterbauer and Anne Tauber, who took the stage win and the Pink jersey as GC leader.
