The exercise is taking place in Vila Real de Santo António, Castro Marim, Tavira, Olhão, Faro, Loulé, Albufeira, Silves, Lagoa, Portimão, Lagos and Vila do Bispo and will end later Friday evening.
Other coastal areas along the Portuguese West Coast leading north to Lisbon are also involved in the exercise.
