IKEA has already announced that it will be opening the doors of its furniture store to the public next March, and this week it revealed that within the new shopping centre, it will have an open area space covering 8,000m2.
The commercial area itself is expected to be opened at the beginning of next summer.
The Swedish company explained in a statement that the new area will be taking the concept of “family friendly shopping” to a new level, with the shopping centre almost assuming theme park proportions.
In addition to the open areas, MAR Shopping Algarve will boast 110 stores, cinema theatres and restaurant areas over a space covering 82,000 square metres that will inlcude the Algarve Designer Outlet, which will have a further 110 stores, and the flagship IKEA store.
Among the stores that have taken up lease agreements are Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Zara Home, Pull & Bear, Oysho, Lefties, Massimo Dutti, Primark, Mango, C&A, Punt Roma, Sfera, Tiffosi, Aromas and Sephora.
Overall, the IKEA Group has invested 200 million euros that will create an estimated 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.

I like how adding 3000 jobs is always talked about. Never the fact that the algarve is not big enough to have so many shopping centres. The faro shopping centre already destroyed the inner city. Now this one so close to faro with exactly the same stuff but more. What will happen to that shopping centre and how many jobs will be lost
