Up to €15,000 can be transferred in each operation.

The system is voluntary, so not all banks offer the service yet.

The immediate transfer system is not available through the ‘Multibanco’ ATMs.

Lusa contacted the main banks on Wednesday to discover whether they provide the service, what channels they use and how much they will charge for the service.

State-owned Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) said it does not provide the service.

Santander Totta said "the immediate transfer system is available and clients could use any of the channels the bank offers, but it did not say how much these transfers would cost.

Lastly, BCP said it was “one of the first banks to join this system” and the service was available for private clients and businesses.
