Contacted after worker representatives were informed this morning, a source at BBVA Portugal said it “is always going to maintain its presence in the country, because it is a market with great inter-relations with Spain, the Group’s main geography”.
With these latest cuts, BBVA Portugal finishes the restructuring begun a year ago, which the company sees as essential to ensure the sustainability of operations in the Portuguese market.
BBVA Portugal currently has a staff of 583 and 38 branches, but it lost €62 million last year.
