Benfica will now face Marítimo in the final, set for the 20 May in Coimbra.
Marítimo had already qualified for the Coimbra final in February after beating Second Division Portimonense in the semi-finals, but due to fixture congestion, Benfica were only able to earn their passage to the final earlier this week.
The tournament, which was launched in the 2007/08 season, has only been won by three teams, with neither FC Porto nor Sporting lifting Portugal’s ‘third trophy’.
The only winners besides Benfica, have been Vitoria de Setúbal, who won the inaugural tournament, and Sporting de Braga, who lifted the Taça da Liga in 2013.
