The incident with the Boeing 737 was reported as the Dutch airline was preparing its final approach to land at Lisbon Airport. The incident is the fifth this month involving passenger jets and a drone, and also the ninth since the beginning of the year.
Aviation authorities have launched an investigation and also recently announced a comprehensive study into dealing with these potentially catastrophic incidents more effectively.
This comes after a TAP plane carrying 130 passengers crossed paths with a drone at low altitude last week as it prepared to land at Lisbon airport.
The Airbus A319 en-route from Milan came within close proximity of the drone at 700 metres altitude as it was crossing over the 25 April bridge at Alcântara.
