"Tourism in Portugal is carrying on normally. We see no negative effect of the Brexit at the moment, there is no sign of any problem. We are monitoring. Of course it has to be monitored – and make sure that the best solutions are found to safeguard the interests of the British in Portugal ", Ana Mendes Godinho said.

The secretary of state added that the British tourist market "is a market that has been consolidated in Portugal for many years" and that "it has gone through many moments and it has always demonstrated a great capacity to adapt to Portugal, mainly because there is a lot of interest by the United Kingdom for Portugal as a destination".
