CGD announces record losses of €1.86 billion

Portuguese state-owned bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) has announced a historical loss of €1.86 billion for 2016, more than ten times higher than the 2015 loss of €171.5, the bank said.

This is the sixth year in a row of losses at the group and this €1.86 billion loss is a historical low.

 

Since the beginning of the year, following the resignation of Mr Domingues as chairman following the controversy surrounding his refusal to declare his earnings and assets required of all state managers, the bank has been run by Paulo Macedo as CEO and Rui Vilar as chairman.
