Macedo was nominated by the government to replace António Domingues following his resignation last week.

"This is a complex process, we intend to set up a team and we are doing that,” Macedo said on the sidelines of a conference entitled, "Corruption: Combat by all for all," held on Monday in Lisbon.

Macedo told journalists "we are working," and "when there are clear, definitive and concrete matters we will communicate them,” as the Finance Ministry did in relation to its invitation for Macedo to lead the bank and for Rui Vilar to be its chairman.

António Domingues resigned as CGD chief executive last week. He took office as the state bank's chairman only on 31 August of this year, having stepped down from his position on the board of rival bank BPI on 30 June.
