The child sex offender register was proposed by the coalition government and approved in Parliament back in March. But some government MPs expressed reservations about its constitutionality while the entire opposition voted against it. An alteration was made to the law last month, in which parents’ access to the register has been restricted and no names or addresses will be published. Only police will be able to access the list.
The list is expected to be functional by November, according to Justice Ministry sources.
