The Eco-Mob initiative foresees the acquisition of some 1,200 electric-powered vehicles through to 2020 and leveraging savings of €50 million in the meanwhile.
The legislation stipulates sustainable mobility for the various different levels of government, even while implementing the respective measures depends on the availability of funding at the respective institutional level.
Eco-Mob is designed to bring about lower vehicle usage through greater sharing and other synergies and, combined with more efficient means of transport, cut CO2 emissions and energy usage in overall terms thereby cutting costs.
Portugal has the set objective of cutting emissions by 30 percent to 40 percent by 2030 based on 2005 levels, and attaining 40 percent of renewable within the overall final energy consumption mix, which in turn means attaining an 80 percent level of renewable electricity production. Lusa
