Strike action staged over three non-consecutive days – last Thursday, Easter Sunday, and Wednesday 4 April – by Ryanair’s Portugal cabin crew, resulted in around three dozen flights being cancelled.

Close to three dozen flights cancelled in three days of Ryanair cabin crew strikes

According to media reports, three flights were cancelled on day one of the action, more than 20 flights were cancelled on Sunday, and 11 flights were cancelled on Wednesday this week, although the Irish airline disputes the latter figure and says only eight flights were cancelled on the last strike.
The union representing Ryanair’s Portuguese crew, the SNPVAC, says up to 90 percent of personnel adhered to the action, and slammed the airline for allegedly drafting in crews for foreign bases.
The union said a Europe-wide strike at the company is possible if Ryanair does not observe local employment law in organising staffing at its bases in Portugal.
The SNPVAC official praised the “great courage” of cabin crew in Portugal who had taken the first such strike to affect Ryanair in its 30 years of existence.
On Wednesday Ryanair announced that “just eight of the first flights of the day were cancelled” out of a total of 170, stressing that “the great majority of cabin crew” based in Portugal were working “as normal”.
