Minister Caldeira Cabral said during the public presentation of NEST – Centre of Tourism Innovation, in Lisbon, that the amounts of funding could go from €300,000 to €1.5 million and were aimed at “reinforcing, growing and accelerating projects that make a difference in Portugal.”
During the ceremony, the president of Tourism of Portugal, Luís Araújo, said NEST would promote “innovation and technology, the support and development of new business ideas, and training to enable companies and people during this digital transition.”
The list of founders of the new centre include travel agency Amadeus Portugal, Portugal’s airport management company ANA, Bank BPI, transport company Brisa, Google, Microsoft, bank Millennium BCP, communications group NOS Comunicações and national tourism board Tourism of Portugal.
