ACOP said in a statement released earlier this week that the agreement for the airport taxis was illegal since consumer associations “have the right to participate in price regulation processes”.
Taxi association ANTRAL is proposing a €20 flat rate for taxi journeys from the arrivals zone of Lisbon airport that are less than 15 kilometres long and then charge 47 cents a kilometre after that.
The €20 flat rate is being negotiated with airport operator ANA, the mobility institute and Lisbon city chambers. ANA is to get €1 for every taxi service and this amount is to go towards the tourist tax the company has agreed to pay the city’s coffers.
