The EUIPO has monitored the economic cost of counterfeits mover the last five years in sectors that are known to be vulnerable to violations of intellectual property rights.

The 13 sectors that were analysed were cosmetics and personal care; clothing, footwear and accessories; sports goods; toys and games; jewellery and watches; handbags and cases; record industry; wines and spirits; drugs; pesticides; smartphones; and batteries and tyres.

The data was collected over a five-year period and has been published in a single report for the first time.
