Crimes against elderly on the up

Over the past four years victim protection association APAV has seen a 30 percent rise in the number of crimes committed against the elderly.

Crimes against elderly on the up

According to the association, women are the main victims of crime and many of them have suffered in silence, some for more than 40 years.
With regard to the attackers, the majority of crimes are committed by sons, partners, neighbours and grand-
children.
This information was revealed to mark International Awareness Day to Prevent Crimes against the Elderly, which was staged on Wednesday.
