The European Commission was speaking in the financed ministry in Lisbon at a joint press conference with the finance minister, Mário Centeno, where he acknowledged that "there is still a lot of work to be done" to overcome the economic challenges that are familiar to all member states.

Moscovici left a message of "encouragement and confidence", saying that Portugal "is recovering, is reforming" and that "The European Commission (EC) will stay at its side on this path ".

This morning at the parliamentary commission of European affairs, Moscovici said that the “Portuguese economy has re-encountered the road to growth".

"We should be content, particularly because this will allow, according to our forecasts, a fall in unemployment that should reach 10% in 2017, the euro zone. It is a substantial improvement", he said, adding that he expected “the future would show that the Portuguese optimism was justified".
