The November report indicates that fuel consumption in October overall was down 1.2 percent on the same month last year, with diesel consumption down 0.4 percent and petrol consumption down 4.3 percent. For the first 10 months of 2015 as a whole, consumption was still up 2.8 percent on the same period last year.
The ENMC report notes that the price of diesel in Portugal has moved in step with the European Union average, although it was 3.1 cents below that average on 26 October. In the case of petrol, prices have fluctuated more in relation to the EU average, and were 3 cents above it on the same date.
In October, Portugal had the seventh dearest petrol in the EU after tax and the 10th dearest diesel.
