“The report concludes that the main reasons that led Portuguese people to buy online include lower prices, ease of making purchases, sales and the convenience of being able to buy at any time,” the statement said.

The company also said people purchasing items via electronic commerce transactions did so more frequently but the “average purchase value was lower.”

That reflects that most shoppers have a greater reliance on online shopping, which fosters “impulse purchases, making the most of sales and campaigns,” the report added.

E-buyers carried out 15.2 sales per year, four more than in 2016 (+33%), spending an average of €51.49 per purchase.
