The airline said this was the first time it had broken the 6,000,000 barrier.

José Lopes, the Easyjet manager for Portugal, told Lusa that the company was still operating the same eight aircraft in the country.

“We managed this increase by using planes from other bases”, José Lopes said.

He said that passenger numbers in Lisbon were up 20%, “in line with the rest of the country”, reaching 2.5 million people.
