According to EDPR, the 200 MW solar park is expected to be operational by 2022 and will be the largest array of solar panels in the state, capable of producing enough clean energy to supply approximately 37,000 homes.

This commitment by Hoosier Energy, a Bloomington-based energy generation and transmission cooperative, will benefit 18 electric cooperatives that serve consumers in central and southern Indiana and southeast Illinois, regions that serve more than 300,000 homes, agricultural land and companies.

Under the PPA, Hoosier Energy will receive all the electricity from the solar park for 20 years.

EDP Renováveis' executive director João Manso Neto said EDPR is pleased to move ahead with this partnership and "diversify its portfolio of renewable energy in Indiana with the addition of Riverstart Solar Park."

Through this agreement, EDPR will further increase its energy footprint in Indiana. EDPR currently has more than 800 MW of wind power and will have another 200 MW wind farm in operation by the end of 2018 in Benton County, Indiana.

EDP Renováveis is the world's leading renewable energy company and the world's fourth largest producer of wind power. It is currently present in 12 markets: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States.
