“The decision was communicated today by the assistant secretary of state and internal administration, Isabel Oneto, to the mayors of the district of Évora, at a meeting held at the headquarters of the inter-municipal community of the central Alentejo”, said the ministry in a communiqué.
According to the document, this pilot project stems from the “legislative amendments to the newly approved electoral laws” by parliament.
“The ministry of internal affairs is pleased with the receptiveness of the mayors, whose involvement is fundamental to the introduction of the project”, it concluded.
