If the bid goes ahead, it will join the one from China Three Gorges, which is trying to take over Power utility EDP (which owns most of the capital of EDP Renováveis) and another over EDP Renováveis (depending on the success of the first one).
The CEO of EDP, António Mexia, said back in April there were no contacts or negotiations with Engie for any kind of “consolidation operations”.
Bloomberg said the French company was mainly interested in EDP Renováveis’ assets in the USA, but was considering a bid for the whole company.
