Fernando Jorge, the union's president, told Lusa that as a result of the action “many courts were completely closed with participation of 100%, and many proceedings were postponed”.

Justice and court officials are demanding the revision of their career and pension rights.

The union says that it wants to return to the table and on Wednesday is to send a request to that effect to the minister of justice, expressing its “readiness to negotiate”.

According to Jorge, "it is also in their [the government's] interest to schedule a meeting for us to sit at the table and discuss the questions that led to the strike.”

The strike was initially called by the SFJ and another union, the SOJ, later joined the action.
