Following the legalisation of online betting, these are the first games of chance to be made available online. Estoril Sol’s website went live at around 5.43pm on Monday evening after being granted a three-year licence from the national tourist board’s Games Committee.
A statement on the company’s website explains “EstorilSolCasinos.pt is 100 percent legal and user-friendly. Play wherever and whenever you want on your computer, smartphone or tablet” and adds: “The website for online casino games EstorilSolCasinos.pt has been accredited by the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos. When you choose to play on EstorilSolCasinos.pt, you will therefore benefit from all the protection mechanisms provided by the Portuguese legislation and the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos.”
At the end of May, Betclic Everest became the first company to secure an online betting licence in the Portuguese online gambling market.
The company launched its Portugal-focused Betclic.pt website at the end of May, which offers punters in this country the opportunity to place wagers on a host of sporting events from around the world.
Confirmation of the licence came just over a year after Portugal launched plans for a legalised online gaming market.
