According to parts of the indictment by Lisbon’s Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP), Carvalho is accused of 40 crimes of aggravated threat, 19 of assault, 38 of kidnapping, one of possession of prohibited weapon and crimes that are classified as terrorism.

Also accused of the same crimes plus drug trafficking is Nuno Mendes, known as Mustafá and one of the leaders of the Juventude Leonina fan club. Bruno Jacinto, who at the time was the liaison officer of Sporting to supports, is held on remand.

On 15 May, members of the Sporting squad at the Alcochete academy were beaten by a group of around 40 self-described supporters, hooded to conceal their identities, who also attacked coaches and other club staff.

The police detained 23 people that day and later detained a further 15, that rose to 40, 38 of which are held on remand.
