The incident happened as the plane made its way from Portugal to the Danish capital.
Flight TP752 was en-route over France when it lost communication with controllers, prompting French fighter aircraft to be dispatched to intercept it.
According to aviation website Aviation Herald, “following the interception the fighter aircraft positioned to the left of the A320 attempted to raise the crew on Air Traffic Control and guard frequencies but failed to receive a response for several minutes.
“Subsequently the crew responded advising they suspected a radio failure, and they were able to restore normal radio operation. The crew received the correct ATC frequency from the fighter aircraft and established contact with ATC while en-route about 60nm west of Paris (France) about 400nm into French Airspace. After AT C communication was restored the fighter aircraft returned to their base.”
The TAP plane continued on to Copenhagen where it landed safely around 100 minutes after communication was restored.
The Portugal News has asked TAP for comment on the incident but none had been received by the time of going to press.
