The launch in Portugal involved various local partners, Google said in a statement, saying that this made it possible for the service to cover metro and train stations, museums, universities, shopping centres, palaces and other Portuguese spaces.


The Estádio do Dragão, Museu da Marinha, the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and its Centro de Arte Moderna José de Azeredo Perdigão, the Palácio da Pena, the Palácio Nacional de Sintra, the El Corte Inglés department stores in Lisbon and Vila Nova de Gaia, the engineering faculty of the University of Oporto and Lisbon's Instituto Superior Técnico are among the 49 spaces included in the launch.


The function is available on both Android and IOS.


According to Google, Indoor Maps features more than 3 billion square metres of floor plans around the world, in more than 20 countries.
