A government summary of the budget implementation showed that direct taxes increased 12.3 percent to €1.254 billion, mainly because of the performance of personal income tax (+8.4 percent to €1.192 billion) and company income tax (almost four times more to €59.8 million).
Indirect taxes went up 6.1 percent to €1.66 billion, driven by an increase in VAT (+7.3 percent to €1.04 billion) and tobacco tax (+23.9 percent to €58.7 million).
Car tax and stamp duty both fell slightly by 5.2 percent to €60.2 million and 1.8 percent to €137 million, respectively.
