Government debt back up to 126.3%

The Bank of Portugal’s Statistics Bulletin published today said that in absolute terms, the government debt was €250.085 billion in April, €4.2 billion more than the month before.

The rise was mainly because of an increase in dent securities, particularly with the issue of treasury bonds, the central bank said.

The all-time maximum for the government debt was in September 2016, when it reached 132.8% of GDP.
