Carried out by ASAE’s southern unit as part of ongoing action to enforce rules and regulations within the wine-producing sector, an inspection of the facilities culminated in action being launched against the producer for a lack of documentation that proved the drink’s source and origins.
A total of 52,300 litres of wine, red and white, worth around €24,000 was seized from the producer, packager and wholesaler.
In a statement ASAE said “as a result ASAE inspectors managed to prevent the possible introduction of illegal wines onto the market.
“ASAE hence reiterates its commitment to combating the black economy, promoting fair competition and ensuring the introduction of safe products onto the market.”
