“We’ve created a programme that bal-ances intensive English language training with a broad range of enrichment activities,” says Pedro Serrão, Student Recruitment Manager. “Students become immersed in English through both their coursework and their daily interactions with peers from around the world.”
“Discovery,” the theme that guides every aspect of the academic programme and campus life at Nobel Algarve, also inspires the Summer School agenda. Mornings are spent studying English with native- speaking teachers in classes with no more than 12 students. Students are placed in courses based on their level of proficiency, and each weekly session includes 20 full hours of English instruction. Students build comprehension and speaking skills through class discussions, games, role plays and group projects, and take home a certificate from the Cambridge English Language Assessment examination centre in the Algarve documenting their improvement.
Afternoons and weekends are devoted to discovering the spectacular Algarve. Students take part in beach activities, coastal exploration, water sports, boat trips and excursions to local castles, museums and water parks. Evenings on the beautiful Nobel Algarve campus include movies, games, and contests that help students make friends and build self-confidence.
The “all in” rate for Nobel Algarve Summer School includes pick up and transfers from Faro or Lisbon Airport, accommodation in double en suite rooms in the boarding house, full catering, tuition and materials, and all fees for excursions and other activities. “We even do the students’ laundry twice a week,” Mr Serrão says.
“From pickup to drop off, every minute of the Summer School programme is carefully planned to ensure that students feel safe, cared for and engaged,” says Mr Serrão. “We want the only surprises to be the discoveries students make during their stay with us.”
