The figure for July was down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month and is 0.6 percentage points lower than three months earlier, according to INE.
The provisional estimate of the unemployed population in August was 461,400 people, down 0.4 percent (1,800 people) against the previous month (July 2017) and 2.6 percent (12,400 people) compared to three months earlier (May 2017).
The number of people in Portugal receiving unemployment benefits totalled 185,473 in August, down 14.3 percent on the same month of last year and the lowest since January 2002, according to official figures released earlier this month.
