The paperwork was concluded with the signatures of representatives from Lagos Council, the GNR and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The police station is set to open next year along the EN125 national road, and comes after years of calls to relocate from the current dated facilities which have been repeatedly denounced as being inadequate.
Located in Chinicato, the new police station will come at a cost of 279,000 euros.
“The installation of the Lagos GNR’s headquarters in Lagos will result in improved working and operational conditions as well as a better service for the public”, a GNR spokesperson said.
The investment is being covered as part of the Home Affairs Ministry’s programme to update and modernise the security forces’ equipment and services.
