Figures released by Eurostat show that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita in Portugal in 2013 was 78% of the European Union (EU) average.


Lisbon was the only part of the country that was higher than the EU average at 108%.


The north of Portugal had the lowest GDP at just 64% of the EU average followed by the Centre (67%), Alentejo (72%) and Algarve (79%).
