The Portuguese capital fell one place in the list compiled by consultants Mercer, which measures 39 factors deemed important to quality of living.
Vienna occupies first place for overall quality of living for the 8th year running, with the rest of the top-ten list mostly filled by European cities such as Zurich, Munich, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Copenhagen and Basel.
The only non-European cities in the top ten are Auckland and Vancouver.
Best place in the world to live.

So Lisbon dropped 1 place and it's headlines ... but nowhere does it mention Portugal's rank as a country. Why focus on the negative and not mention we are the 8th on the global list for quality of living ? Even the UK who at every oportunity say they are amazing and a reference which others should aspire to, is ranked 13th ...

I fully agree. I just did a tour of Portugal last week and it is a truly amazing country. So much to do, see, experience , and enjoy. Food, wineries, beaches, friendliness, art, fado, golf, surfing. Did I mention Port wine - enough said.
