The Designer Outlet Algarve in Loulé covers 17,000 square metres, comprises 110 shops and will create around 3,000 jobs. The retail outlet will sell designers’ products at cut-down prices and aims to help tackle seasonality in the region.
It completes a complex that also comprises the IKEA store and the MAR shopping Algarve centre.
In a statement, administrators said that many of the premium brands at the venue will be providing customers with permanent sales of up to 70 percent throughout the year.
Among the stores that have taken up lease agreements are Zara, Zara Home, Bershka, Stradivarius, Pull & Bear, Oysho, Lefties, Massimo Dutti, Primark, Mango, C&A, Punt Roma, Sfera, Tiffosi, Aromas, Sephora, Worten and NOS Cinemas.
Overall, the IKEA Group has invested 200 million euros that will create an estimated 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The IKEA furniture store officially opened its doors to the public in March, and the company says it plans to double the number of its stores in Portugal to ten by 2025.
“This has been a gratifying challenge to work on this project and with the desire of also being a relevant leisure and cultural space for the people of the Algarve and the entire community. In addition to a unique mixture of stores, we are preparing initiatives for all tastes and ages so that this will be a space where people can find what they need and feel good at the same time”, Herman Gewert, Director of MAR Shopping Algarve said in a statement to The
Portugal News.
