The accident happened Thursday evening at around 5.50pm.
According to national rail company CP police authorities were at the scene to determine the cause of the accident.
Circulation was re-established around an hour later.

We were on the train and new something serious had happened. Forensics took a while to arrive. We had to wait a long time before we were told what might be happening. I took a video of the train as it arrived onto Monte Gordo Station before the incident. If the Police need this I can send it to them for comparison.
