Speaking in parliament on Tuesday, Ms Matos Rosa said that many of the recommendations made since 2004 for the liquid fuel market had not been implemented.
Regarding bottled gas, she said that one of the recent recommendations has been implemented but she suggested “prudence” in comparing bottled gas prices in Portugal and Spain, since court decisions had meant that the Spanish state had to compensate Repsol. Repsol is practically a monopolist on the Spanish market and the company had to be compensated as the price they were forced to charge did not cover the cost of supply, so the bill had to be partially footed by the taxpayer, she added.
