The Bank of Portugal’s optimism extended further forwards with a 0.3% increase in GDP growth for 2016 and thus forecasting 1.9% growth before rising to 2% in 2017.

The bank added that the underlying trend in the economy was towards export led growth with investment targeting this avenue to overcome national market limitations.
