In the Algarve, seven regions are on the highest possible level of alert.

Firefighters in Aljezur, Monchique, Silves, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim and Castro Marim have all been warned of the imminent risk of wildfires in these areas, while those in Loulé, Portimão and Lagos are the second highest level of readiness.

These advisories are issued each morning by the Portuguese Met Office and are based on existing and expected weather conditions.
