Lisbon council has drafted a tender to find the builders of the new amusement park in Carnide, to which is has attached a budget of €5.159 million, and wants the work to be complete in eight months.
The proposal is still being studied but wants the new 20-hectare site to offer “”diverse uses, contributing to the improvement of the social and environmental landscape of this part of Lisbon through an adequate functioning of natural systems and management, leading to a sustained evolution and framed by the optimised use of resources.”
At the end of 2015, Lisbon Council said it would be resurrecting the famous Feira Popular, created in 1943, in a new location, after it was closed down indefinitely in 2003 following stints in Palhavã and Entrecampos.
The new Fairgrounds will create 600 jobs, Lisbon Mayor Fernando Medina has said.
