The Testes de Aferição, which do not count towards students’ overall grades, this year are optional meaning many schools have decided not to apply them.

In the Algarve region, 57 percent of school directors decided against introducing the tests, which are currently under a transitional regime.

Half of the schools in the Alentejo will be applying them, along with 62 percent of schools in Lisbon, 52 percent in the central region and 58 percent of schools in the North.
