Police arrest Algarve arsonist

Portugal’s PJ police have announced the arrest of a man who started a series of fires in the Algarve.

The 37-year old man is reported to have targeted the Lagoa area, setting a number of fires between the beaches of Marinha and Benagil on 4 August.
A total of 12 fires were dealt with that day, consuming a 10,000 square metres of scrubland in the process and also destroying wooden structures found at the beaches.
The Lagoa Fire Department said that the fires were kept under control thanks to the swift action by fire-fighters.

If the idiot arrested is proved guilty, then he should be sentenced to spend the next few years replanting a tree or shrub for every single one lost in the fires.
If he has any savings or property, all assets should be seized and donated to the Bombeiros Stations that had to deal with the fires or any other labour groups who assist with the replanting.
