The number of people injured by the fire has also climbed to 64, with five in a serious condition, State Secretary Jorge Gomes told reporters.
The government has also since decreed three days of national mourning for the victims.
Portugal's PJ police have ruled out foul play with authorities believing the blaze was the result of dry lightning.
A total of 30 people died in their cars.
The fire remains highly active, with hundreds of fire-fighters battling the blaze on four separate fronts.
If possible, would you post information on where to send donations and how to offer volunteer assistance? Thank you.
