Portugal fishermen paid compensation for sardine, crayfish suspension

The Portuguese government has paid €1 million to support fishermen and boat owners of 46 vessels following the temporary suspension on sardine and crayfish captures, the sea ministry said.

The suspension ion crayfish captures was in October as part of the species management measures.

 

The sardine management measures foresee €1,920 per fisherman for up to two months and the boat owners get what they are estimated to have lost because of the suspension.
