
Following the rain and cloud of recent days, the clear and warm weather has seen a warning issued due to the strength of UV rays, with the whole country placed on high alert.
The Algarve will see most areas issued with a UV alert level of 10 on a scale from 1 to 11.
According to the Met Office, children and the elderly should avoid extended exposure to the sun, with peak times being between noon and 4pm.
Those who intend braving the sun, are advised to wear hats, shirts, sunglasses and sun cream, while limiting their exposure to short periods.
