”We could be doing a lot more and we are concerned that we are losing the wave of the Chinese market,” Alberto Carvalho Neto said on the sidelines of the Macau International Trade and Investment Fair.

“We should be surfing the Chinese market and we are not,” he added.

Carvalho Neto said the government should create a working committee to support entrepreneurs “both in exports and in fundraising.”

However, he said that through Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and Forum Macau, businesspeople were “well received” and saw an open door to the Chinese Market.

The Macau International Fair, which kicked off on Thursday under the theme “Cooperation - Key to Business Opportunities,” includes forums, conferences and workshops aimed at fostering cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries.
