This is the first time that a Portuguese artist has collaborated with the ISS with a piece of art, which was placed in the ISS cupola and shows the Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen.
Vhils’s work went into space along with the astronaut, who made her first trip to the station in early September. Andreas Mogensen is one of the figures portrayed in the documentary by Miguel Gonçalves Mendes.
The piece of art by Vhils, the first he has created for space, shows the face of the Danish astronaut at the only place in the ISS where they can see the complete face of the Earth and where the astronauts can see the Sun rise and set 16 times a day.
The documentary is expected to be released in 2017.
